MEET JOANNE
Joanne earned her Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Western University. She brings a deep passion for supporting children across a wide range of communication goals—including speech sound development, language connection, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), literacy, and fluency.
At the heart of Joanne Diemert’s practice is a commitment to providing collaborative, strengths-based care. She strives to build a safe, engaging, and supportive space where children and their families feel truly heard, valued, and empowered throughout their journey. As a neurodiversity-affirming clinician, Joanne meets every child exactly as they are, celebrating their unique communication style, honoring their individual needs, and presuming competence every step of the way.
Outside of the clinic, you’ll find Joanne embracing the outdoors! She loves spending her free time hiking, camping, biking, reading a good book, and exploring new trails and nature spots.

CARLA WILLOCK, RSLP

MEET CARLA
Carla is the owner and clinical director of Victoria Speech and Language Centre. Carla has been practicing in speech language pathology since 2007.
She previously worked in Vancouver at UBC Hospital and in private practice until moving back ‘home’ to Victoria in 2015. In her 8 years at UBC hospital, Carla gained broad experience assessing and treating adults with swallowing disorders due to conditions such as a stroke, progressive neurological disease, or brain injury.
Carla also worked with the Early Intervention Program at Queen Alexandra Children’s Centre servicing children 0-5 yrs of age and their families. She has extensive experience working with autistic children of all ages in 1:1 therapy and in small peer groups.
Carla is passionate about neurodiversity-affirming practices and leads the clinical team in embracing this approach. Carla has initiated several educational initiatives for clients and caregivers, demonstrating her commitment to keeping the Victoria Speech and Language Centre at the forefront of the field.
In her spare time, Carla enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys as well as biking, hiking, running and anything active and outdoors.
