Art Therapy
Art Therapy Services
Art therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that combines psychotherapy with artistic expression. It is a therapeutic practice that uses the creative process of making art to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. It is especially beneficial for neurodiverse individuals, offering an alternative means of communication and self-expression. Art therapy makes the invisible visible, transforming your thoughts and feelings into visual representations that help you process and understand them.
Benefits of Art Therapy
Meet our Art Therapist | Katherine Searle
Katherine’s primary goal is to create a space where clients can explore and discover their true selves.
She tailors her sessions to meet the unique needs of each age group:
With children: Katherine provides materials that offer comfort and evoke exploration, without placing demands. She engages with children through curious, open-ended questions.
With teens: She focuses on creating a space that offers control and autonomy, encouraging self-reflection and awareness of self-identity. Katherine supplies materials and offers minimal instruction, allowing teens to process their art as they wish.
With adults: Recognizing that adults are often accustomed to being directed, Katherine offers options for structured art directives or spontaneous art-making, depending on the client’s goals. The emphasis remains on self-reflection and grounding in one’s authentic self, with space for processing art.
Art therapy with Katherine is currently available for community, in-home, clinic sessions, and online.
