JESS FRIESEN, OT

MEET JESS
Jess grew up just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where her journey into healthcare began with a love for movement and connection. After completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) as a student-athlete at the University of Winnipeg, Jess pursued a more holistic approach to wellness, leading her to complete a Master’s in Occupational Therapy at the University of Manitoba.
With over ten years of experience coaching youth, Jess brings a unique blend of compassion, mentorship, and advocacy to her work as an OT. Her background in coaching not only fuels her passion for inclusion in sport and recreation, but also strengthens her commitment to creating spaces where every child can participate and thrive.
Jess Friesen is a strong advocate for neurodiversity-affirming and strength-based care. Her approach is grounded in building meaningful relationships with children and families, meeting each client where they’re at, and using play and movement to support growth, regulation, and independence.
Outside of the clinic, you’ll often find Jess playing volleyball, biking, thrifting, or spending time with her favourite people, sharing laughs and making memories.
Jess has completed the following professional development courses:
- Understanding PDA: Pathological Demand Avoidance (Kristy Forbes)
- Here to Play: Recentering Children in Occupational Therapy Practice (Learn Play Thrive)
- Interoception (Kelly Mahler)
- Using and Interpreting the Sensory Profile for Clinical Practice (Brain Shark)
- The Responsive Feeding Centre of BC Program
- PDA: OT Parent/Caregiver Education Group
