Shannon McIndoe, OT

Shannon graduated from UBC in 1996 with a BSc (Occupational Therapy) and a BA (English).  Paediatrics was always her goal and early work experiences provided a range of opportunities to explore the incredible diversity of OT practice with children.  Her early OT work experiences included: sole OT in child and youth mental health in the Vancouver downtown East side, BC Children’s Hospital (ICU, Eating Disorders program), and Queen Alexandra (Early Intervention and School Age programs). She went on from there to work for 17 years in an Early Intervention and specialized Autism program at a children’s therapy center in Kamloops while raising her family.

More recently Shannon has spent six months as a volunteer occupational therapist working with children and adults and supervising Canadian Occupational Therapy students in India.

Shannon believes that a trusting, collaborative relationship is essential in her work and endeavours to create this with the children and families she serves.  In her leisure time, Shannon enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with loved ones. She has recently moved back to Victoria and is excited to become reacquainted with all that the Southern Vancouver Island has to offer.

Recent coursework has included:

  • Motivational interviewing
  • Collaborative Proactive Solutions (Dr. Ross Greene)
  • Interoception: A 3 step approach to nurturing interoception awareness
  • DIR for floor time
  • Executive Functioning Skills (Sarah Ward)
  • The Get Permission Approach to Anxious Eaters, Anxious Mealtimes
